Mas Elettronica
The context

MAS Elettronica collaborated with an Italian company, a leader in the production of advanced surgical instruments, to develop a next-generation user interface designed for hospital environments and for procedures involving skin‑repair interventions. The project fits within the broader transformation of the healthcare sector, where the integration between specialized hardware and intelligent software is redefining operational standards.
The client's challenge
The company needed a highly advanced and highly customizable user interface for its surgical systems, with the goal of providing healthcare professionals with a superior user experience, advanced customization features, and the highest possible reliability required in critical medical environments.
Technological solutions
The implemented solution is based on a modular architecture that combines the TANIA IMX6 carrier board with the LEILA IMX6 CPU, an ARM dual-core processor at 800 MHz equipped with a dedicated graphics accelerator. The system integrates a Qt-based framework for professional graphical interfaces, the Yocto Zeus optimized operating system, and MQTT cloud connectivity for interoperability and remote communication.
Operational results
The system fully met the client’s needs, offering:
- An intuitive and immersive user experience thanks to the smooth graphical interface with optimal response times during surgical procedures.
- Interface customization according to the individual preferences of each healthcare professional, increasing operational efficiency.
- Simultaneous dual-display management for the concurrent visualization of patient data and instrument controls, improving procedure control and safety.
Time-to-market was reduced by 50% compared to industry standards, accelerating product launch and significantly optimizing research and development investments.
