Space Division
FAE Technology, through its subsidiaries Kayser Italia and Kayser Space Ltd., provides advanced technologies and highly specialized services for space exploration and in‑orbit scientific activities. The combination of engineering expertise, Hi‑Rel electronic manufacturing, and a unique heritage of real‑mission experience makes the Space division a reference point in the European landscape.
Kayser Italia is one of Europe’s key players in the space sector, with nearly 30 years of experience in delivering space technologies and end-to-end solutions for scientific and technological research activities on space platforms, including the International Space Station (ISS). The company operates across the entire research lifecycle, from engineering design to the development of hardware and software systems, through to qualification and validation for in-orbit operations.
The company maintains long-standing collaborations with leading international space agencies, including NASA, ESA, ASI, JAXA, and CNSA, supported by a highly specialized team of around 100 professionals, including 60 engineers and 20 PhDs in disciplines such as electronics, mechanics, physics, biology, and aerospace sciences. Over the course of its activities, Kayser Italia has participated in numerous European institutional programs, contributing to more than 90 space missions and over 140 payloads, and is integrated within the main national and European procurement ecosystems.
Kayser Italia operates in the United Kingdom through its subsidiary Kayser Space, based within the Harwell Campus science and technology park in Didcot, and is primarily engaged in the design and manufacturing of hardware supporting scientific and technological research in space.
The Group’s Space Division operates across two distinct lines of activity:
- Technology focuses on the development and manufacturing of Hi-Rel electronic sub-systems and components, in full compliance with the most stringent aerospace standards. Activities include contract manufacturing of space-grade electronics and OEM supply of space equipment and tools, such as power distribution modules, telemetry systems, mission control computing infrastructures, and devices for scientific payloads.
The Division’s in-house multidisciplinary approach — combining electronics, software, mechanics, and life sciences — enables the design of custom, qualified, and flight-ready solutions, significantly mitigating the risks typically associated with high-complexity, high-technology programs. - Services delivers end-to-end solutions for biotech experiments addressed to public institutions, universities, and private companies. Support spans the entire mission lifecycle, including scientific concept definition, payload engineering, ground validation, flight platform integration, in-orbit operations, and post-mission data analysis.
By leveraging a unique heritage, dedicated infrastructures, the Group’s multidisciplinary and vertically integrated expertise, and long-standing relationships with leading space institutions, the Division stands as a reliable partner for the development of technologies and services supporting next-generation space missions.
